Key verse: Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men

As we discussed last week, our salvation is not a “one and done” transaction with God, it is a life-changing, life-altering decision which should guide you for the rest of your days. The greatest hindrance to allowing this decision to not only change our eternity but also to change the here and now is how we value this gift.

Titus 2:11-15 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself Hisown special people, zealous for good works. 15 Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you.

1. We are saved by the grace of God

Vs 11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men

Eph 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it isthe gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast

  • Salvation is an undeserved gift
  • How do you value this gift?

2. Which should affect the way we live and act

Vs 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,

  • Is your status as redeemed altering your actions?

3. As we wait for the great promise

Vs 13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,

  • What we are waiting for is far greater than you can imagine

4. Because He has changed us for a reason

Vs 14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself Hisown special people, zealous for good works.

Vs 14 (NLT) He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.

  • Our Father changed us so we could be more like Him

5. So we can change the world through Him

Vs 15 Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you.

  • So what do we speak to a world that is running from truth?

Titus 3:1-7 Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men.For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
