Key Verse: Colossians 2:10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.
Colossians 2:6-10 (NKJV) As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. 8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. 9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; 10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.
Colossians 2:6-10 (NLT) And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. 7 Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness. 8 Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ. 9 For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. 10 So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.
1. Walk in Him
Vs 6 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him
• The greatest gift has been given to us, not just for the future, but for now
• Many Christ followers’ walks don’t change at all
• The importance of walking right and living right is IMPACT
2. Established through Him
Vs 7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving
• How do we walk in Him? By allowing our lives to be nurtured by His presence and His power
• His Word, gathering, fellowship, worship, giving, serving, gratefulness
3. Guided by Him
Vs 9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily…
• There is nothing missing when we follow Christ. Everything needed to travel the journey of life will be found in Him, nothing else.
Vs 8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.
• Many are looking for “more” and they are fooled into believing our hope is found in “CHRIST PLUS”
Ephesians 3:16-19 (NLT) I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit.17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. 18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
4. Complete in Him
Vs 10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power
• Christ is not only enough to face the uncertainties of life, He is all there is
• Our lack of awareness of this truth has nothing to do with the inadequacies of Christ, it is from the inadequacy of our faith
