Easter Sunday: He Lives!

2020-04-12

A continuation of His Purpose that we discussed last Sunday. His purpose was two-fold. The first part of the purpose was to die for our sins, the second part was to rise from the grave!

HE LIVES!

The purpose in His death was to give purpose for our lives; the purpose in his resurrection was to give us hope within our death.

1. His work was accomplished

John 19:28a After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished…

2. The Scriptures proven

John 19:28b … that the Scripture might be fulfilled…

John 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world

3. His love displayed

John 19:30b … He said, “It is finished!”…

  • Rev 16:17-18 “It is finished”

Romans 5:8. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us

4. His power confirmed

John 19:30c … And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

  • Jesus was always fully in control
  • Nothing had been taken from, everything had been done according to His will and His power. He willingly gave!

John 10:17-18a “Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. 18 No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself…

5. His promise fulfilled

John 10:18b …I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.”

2 Corinthians 5:15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again

1 Corintians 15:3-4 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures

1 Thess. 4:14 For if we believe…

Hebrews 10:9-10 then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God.” He takes away the first that He may establish the second. 10 By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

ONCE FOR ALL. JESUS DIED ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES AND HE WAS BURIED AND HE ROSE AGAIN ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES!

AND HE DID THIS FOR YOU!

The Will of God was to reconcile YOU TO HIMSELF
