2 Timothy 2:1-2
“You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also”. NKJV
God has placed within us the desire to leave something behind; a marker revealing that we made a difference. In Ecclesiastes, King Solomon offers a plan that empowers believers to bless the children for generations to come. Drawing upon the King’s principles, the apostle Paul provides a four-fold action plan.
Ecclesiastes 12:1; 13-14
Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth,
Before the difficult days come,
And the years draw near when you say,
I have no pleasure in them
Fear God and keep His commandments,
For this is man’s all.
14 For God will bring every work into judgment,
Including every secret thing,
Whether good or evil NKJV
I. Be a Legacy. Look within yourself.
“Fear God and keep His commandments” Ecclesiastes 12:13
God, guard me from:
• Sinful Attitudes that stand in opposition to the faith life,
• Destructive behavior that contradicts the scripture,
• Continuing temptations that seduce me,
• Foolish decisions that enslave me, and
• Repeated mistakes that diminish and weaken me.
Leave it better than you found it
II. Share a Legacy. Look around you
“For God will bring every work into judgment” Ecclesiastes 12:14
When you go…take someone with you
III. Instill a Legacy. Look beside you.
“And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men” 2 Timothy 2:2a
Locate the “young guns,” stand down so they can stand up!
IV. Advance a Legacy. Look beyond you
“..who will be able to teach others also” 2 Timothy 2:2b
