Memory Verse:
Galatians 2:20 (NKJV)
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

During this series, we have examined who Jesus really is. While the world’s view of Jesus is always in conflict with God’s Word, we have been given a proper view of who He is through studying the Scriptures. Last week, we discovered what Jesus believes about you, how He views you which is encouraging. In light of who He is and what He thinks of us, today let’s talk about changing how we live in response to who Jesus really is.

Christ In Me

Galatians 2:20 (NKJV)
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.”

Romans 8:9 (NLT)
But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.) 10 And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God. 11 The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. 12 Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. 13 For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live. 14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.
1. The World Does Not Control Us

vs 9a But you are not controlled by your sinful nature.

BUT…
2. He Does

vs 9b You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.)

BECAUSE…
3. He Dwells Within Us

vs 10 And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God.

AND…
4. The Holy Spirit Leads Us

vs 11 The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.

1 John 2:6 Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.

5. A Life That’s Different

1 Peter 1:13 So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. 14 So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. 15 But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. 16 For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.”

The world does not control us but He does because He dwells within us and the Holy Spirit leads us to a life that’s different!
