John 14:25-31 (CSB) “I have spoken these things to you while I remain with you. 26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit —the Father will send Him in My name—will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have told you. 27 “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Your heart must not be troubled or fearful. 28 You have heard Me tell you, ‘I am going away and I am coming to you.’ If you loved Me, you would have rejoiced that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I. 29 I have told you now before it happens so that when it does happen you may believe. 30 I will not talk with you much longer, because the ruler of the world is coming. He has no power over Me. 31 On the contrary, I am going away so that the world may know that I love the Father. Just as the Father commanded Me, so I do. “Get up; let’s leave this place.”

1. God is with us

Vs 26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit —the Father will send Him in My name—will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have told you.

  • No matter we might be experiencing, the Holy Spirit is with us to:
    • Remind of us what God has said
    • Renew God’s promises daily
    • Return us to the blameless life

2. He still gives peace

Vs 27 “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Your heart must not be troubled or fearful.

  • God’s desire is for us to see peace in every trial
  • We are not promised He will keep us out of the trial, just that He will be with us in it

Psalm 34:17-18 The righteous cry out, and the Lordhears, and delivers them from all their troubles. 18 The Lordis near the brokenhearted; He saves those crushed in spirit.

3. Nothing can stop it

Vs 30 I will not talk with you much longer, because the ruler of the world is coming. He has no power over Me.

  • At times, it seems like Satan has the upper hand in our situations but Jesus reminds us here that Satan has no power over our God

Proverbs 18:10 (NKJV) The name of the Lordisa strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.

4. So keep on keeping on

Vs 31 On the contrary, I am going away so that the world may know that I love the Father. Just as the Father commanded Me, so I do. “Get up; let’s leave this place.

  • Jesus reminds us one more time that He has everything under control
  • His encouragement: “Get up; let’s leave this place”
  • What place do you need to leave today that is keeping you discouraged?

1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my dear brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the Lord’s work, knowing that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
