Memory Verse:
2 Timothy 4:5
But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

2 Timothy 4:1-5
1 I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: 2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. 5 But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
1. Our Command (vs 2a)

2a Preach the word!

– It is important that each of us understand our responsibility as it relates to the Gospel
– “Preach” is not just a command to me, it’s a command to us all

2. Our Commission (vs 2b)

2b Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching

– “In season and out of season”
– How do we?
– What does this preparation look like?
– What does the implementation look like?
– Convince
– Rebuke
– Exhort
– With long-suffering and teaching

3. The Time Is Now (vs 3-4)

3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

– The world is already moving away from what we know and believe
– There is only one thing that can call them back – the power of the Gospel

Romans 10:13-14
13 For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”
14a How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?

4. Your Time Is Now (vs 5)

5 But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

– We are here for such a time as this!
– What will you then do?

Romans 10:14b
And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!”
