The Power of a Godly Woman…and Man!

Key Verse:
Jeremiah 17:7 Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord.

The Power of a Godly Woman…and Man…is found in three simple attributes which must be present in all of us.

1. Learn to Lean

Jer. 17:5-6 Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man, And makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the Lord. 6For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, And shall not see when good comes, But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, In a salt land which isnot inhabited.”

  • Learn to lean on God as the source of everything
  • When we attempt to navigate life in our own power, wisdom and strength…we will always fail

2 Cor. 12:9-10 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

2. Lean to Lead

Jer. 17:7-8 “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord. 8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.

  • Dependence on God is the key ingredient needed if we desire to lead others
  • Without a firm foundation, rooted in Him, we will falter and fail

Psalm 62:5-7 My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation isfrom Him. 6He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved. 7In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God.

1 Cor. 13:13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

3. Lead in Love

Jer. 17:9-10 “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? 10I, the Lord, search the heart, test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.

1 Cor. 13:13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

  • Every mom, every dad, is a leader
  • How you lead will determine your child’s future
  • Everyone else, is also a leader, so what will you do with it?

Three Leadership Imperatives

  1. Leadership requires love
  2. Leadership requires recognition
  3. Leadership requires appreciation
